Violette Renee

Here is the latest custom-painted box I finished in-studio. It's bright and punchy, just like the customer requested. I liked the result so much, I wanted to share the brightest splash of sunshine in my life at the moment!

Although not commissioned, I also created a companion box finished in gold-leaf, titled "Violette Carte Postale", named for the vintage, victorian postcards the top was designed after. This one will be placed for sale in the studio, and shown during the open house gallery, February 11th-13th.

They look beautiful, happy, cheerful, colorful. Nice work. What are they used for? Decorative or functional (though all things are essentially functional in the end run)? Again, they look great. Jamie

Hi Jamie. Thanks for popping by again.
Your compliments are most welcome. :)

The boxes are functional. The scans only show the lids, which are the top, painted surfaces. The long box is called a "pencil box", long enough to store -- you guessed it -- pens and pencils (or perhaps watches and necklaces?), and the "trunk style" might be for coins, rings, or found objects like agates, quartz or fossils. Just a few ideas.
